Recovering, part 3

The street lead the pair out onto Park Avenue, around 71st. There were a lot of shops and restaurants along here by the look of the bustling shoppers in the summer heat, many with rain gear. It felt like the sky might open up anytime now. It was a main drag so there were plenty of cabs going along the streets to catch. But Kate was more focused on something other than the upscale boutiques and bistros.

"Oh, good, we're right near it. Come on, it's by the Park." She then tugged him along 71st.

The sharpness hurts a little so he nods as he has some soda and pizza though his thumb pauses for a moment then he squeezes it again.

She immediately felt guilty at that.

"...I'm sorry, Will. I'm not myself still, I guess."

She went back to eating her meal quietly again.

"Shh, tis fine. We'll find our way through."

He lifts her hand up to kiss the palm and starts on a cannoli.

A quiet nod in return.

She then glanced back at him, and grabbed one of the cream filled pastries for herself. One with chocolate chips mixed with the cream.

"Good, huh?"

"Mm, aye, tis."

He gives her a hug and would kiss her but he's slightly cream covered,

"Love ye, Kate, dinna e'er forget that."

"I know, Will."

She leaned her forehead against his for a moment before she started to lick and kiss the cream from his face.

"Just give me time."

"As long as ye need, love, till there's grey in our 'air."

The licking makes him grin and then laugh since it feels weird,

"Hopefully not that long," She smiled back, and did a few licks to his face before kissing the end of his nose lightly.

He kisses her on the lips with a smile,

"I'm yers, Kate, tis as simple as that."

Kate agreed, "Not arguing with you on that."

She finished her soda and the cannoli was gone. She then checked her watch.

"We should get back. Though maybe next Sunday? You want to come back here for mass? It's a beautiful cathedral."

"Would like that an I'll be in yer room waitin' for ye after yer meetin'. Rain's stopped too."

He says as he stands up then offers her a hand to stand up.

Kate stood up, and squeezed his hand, "All right, let's grab a cab so you can go back. I'll be fine."

"Why do I need a cab to get back, won't just a door be 'nough?"

"Well the door lead us out on 71st, might have to go back there to get it."

[will_scarlett]

"We've found doors other places though too. We'll leave an see, aye, anyway ye need to go back there for yer meetin'."

He squeezes her hand and starts out the door of the pizza place and turns to where he thinks they started out.

"Exactly so makes more sense to head back, and find the door there." She kissed him again, and then hailed a cab to take them back near the mansion.

One comes fairly quickly and he holds the door for her as they get in and kisses her hand with a smile.

She smiled back, and then curled up against him. Her arms drew around him as she breathed him in. Focusing on him rather than the city for now.

Later, he would go back to Milliways, and she would have a long talk with her friends at the meeting. A long and overdue talk about recent events before returning to Will.

But right now, there was quiet moments as they rode in the back of the cab through the streets of Manhattan.
