Recovering, part 3

The street lead the pair out onto Park Avenue, around 71st. There were a lot of shops and restaurants along here by the look of the bustling shoppers in the summer heat, many with rain gear. It felt like the sky might open up anytime now. It was a main drag so there were plenty of cabs going along the streets to catch. But Kate was more focused on something other than the upscale boutiques and bistros.

"Oh, good, we're right near it. Come on, it's by the Park." She then tugged him along 71st.

"Nay, ye're na, na truly but ye will be in time."

He kisses her quietly on the lips and gets a napkin to take care of her tears.

Kate's eyes closed, and she frowned at that. Because he was right. She wasn't fine at all. Hadn't been for months, and still wasn't.
She blew her nose, and cleaned herself up as best as she could.

"Shouldn't let the food get cold," she commented.

"Food can wait, ye canna."

Gently he kisses her forehead and with his other hand grabs some pizza.

She relaxed into her seat, the kiss from Will was nice and helped. She then picked up some pizza to nibble on. Shouldn't be skipping meals, especially not now.

As she eats, he takes a bite but doesn't let go of her other hand, making small circles with his thumb,

"Love ye so much, Kate. Ye're so strong an true, 'member that."

The contact was helping her relax, especially the touch of his thumb against her hand.

"I know, why it's frustrating to keep doing this. The crying I mean." She ate a little more of her slice.

"How's your pizza?"

"Tis good an cryin' isna weakness. Belle taught me that, its a way for ye to 'eal is all."

Its good for him too, a reminder that she's there and not leaving.

"I know, just don't like being out of control. That's all."

She sipped a little more of her soda.

He squeezes her hand a little tighter,

"Aye, I know, but need to give up a bit to 'eal. Find yer way through yer 'urt."

"I know, Will. Been here before, remember?" She replied with more sharpness than she intended.

The sharpness hurts a little so he nods as he has some soda and pizza though his thumb pauses for a moment then he squeezes it again.

She immediately felt guilty at that.

"...I'm sorry, Will. I'm not myself still, I guess."

She went back to eating her meal quietly again.

"Shh, tis fine. We'll find our way through."

He lifts her hand up to kiss the palm and starts on a cannoli.

A quiet nod in return.

She then glanced back at him, and grabbed one of the cream filled pastries for herself. One with chocolate chips mixed with the cream.

"Good, huh?"

"Mm, aye, tis."

He gives her a hug and would kiss her but he's slightly cream covered,

"Love ye, Kate, dinna e'er forget that."

"I know, Will."

She leaned her forehead against his for a moment before she started to lick and kiss the cream from his face.

"Just give me time."

"As long as ye need, love, till there's grey in our 'air."

The licking makes him grin and then laugh since it feels weird,

"Tickles."

"Hopefully not that long," She smiled back, and did a few licks to his face before kissing the end of his nose lightly.

He kisses her on the lips with a smile,

"I'm yers, Kate, tis as simple as that."

Kate agreed, "Not arguing with you on that."

She finished her soda and the cannoli was gone. She then checked her watch.

"We should get back. Though maybe next Sunday? You want to come back here for mass? It's a beautiful cathedral."

"Would like that an I'll be in yer room waitin' for ye after yer meetin'. Rain's stopped too."

He says as he stands up then offers her a hand to stand up.

Kate stood up, and squeezed his hand, "All right, let's grab a cab so you can go back. I'll be fine."

"Why do I need a cab to get back, won't just a door be 'nough?"

"Well the door lead us out on 71st, might have to go back there to get it."

"We've found doors other places though too. We'll leave an see, aye, anyway ye need to go back there for yer meetin'."

He squeezes her hand and starts out the door of the pizza place and turns to where he thinks they started out.
