"I know, but only have to wait a few more years."

She smiled, and laced her fingers with his. The waiter came back with their drinks, and was ready to take their order.

"You want to order?"

"Oh aye."

Will orders an interesting eggplant appetizer dish to start with, followed by an order of steak before nodding to Kate.

She ordered a chilean sea bass dish, and the waiter smiled and nodded, taking the menus from them and their orders back to the kitchen.

Kate sipped her tea thoughtfully.

"You like it so far here?"

"Aye, I do an like to see ye smile so much. Been too long since felt this good."

She fiddled with her straw as she made eye contact with him, "Don't have anything to worry about. Not getting hit with reminders so much around here."

"'opefully in time those 'minders will be e'en less. Now to get ye to laugh more, might 'ave to keep ticklin' ye."

"Just be careful?" Kate remarked, "Still feel kind of twitchy at times."

"Always, always, love. Ye know I'll always stop if somethin' botherin' ye, can find other things too just miss yer laugh."

"I know, which is great, trust me. And you've been patient."

She sighed, stirring her tea around some more in the glass, "It's kind of like how you are with your wrists. Only it's my mind right now. I know it doesn't make a lot of sense but that's what it's like."

"Nay, does, love. 'ardest wounds to 'eal are the ones ye canna see."

He reaches out to take her hand that's not stirring the tea and rubs his thumb over the ring.

"Take the longest too," She weakly laughed as her eyes met his again. Her other hand shifted around to clasped his hand.

"Aye, but ye're na alone when goin' through it an I plan on bein' there for whate'er ye need, love."

"I know, but..." She trailed off when their appetizer arrived, with a couple of plates to divvy it up between them.

"Enjoy," the waiter said after checking their drinks, and walked away again.

He squeezes her hand again,

"I do know, love, please know that."

Kate nodded, and added, "I know, Will. Sometime after all this break, I'm going to stay here for a while. School will be starting up again in another month or so, and try to get back into regular patrols again."

"Oh aye, course an I'll be back in Sherwood. Just find the way through the dark is all."

He slowly starts eating the appetizer, keeping enough for her on the plate.

She squeezed his hand back, "Right, but we both still have our duties. Been putting them off too long as it is, and need to get back to living our lives again. Have too many counting on us."

Kate then started to eat some of her eggplant dish slowly.

"Aye, an we've each other to keep from doin' more than is good for us. I love ye so, Kate."

He lifts up her hand and kisses the palm before eating more, he loves her so much it hurts at times.

"We do, and I love you Will." She smiled back, and then focused on the appetizer again to finish it with a swallow of tea to wash it down.

The table is small enough that after eating, he can move around it slightly to kiss her on the lips,

"We'll find out way through the dark."

"We will," She agreed, "Just need to find some flashlights."

Their dinner soon after arrived, and then there was quiet and light conversation as they ate.

When they finish, he asks for a dessert menu and kisses her hand once more,

"Looks they've one with fresh peaches, sounds good. An then, just bein' with ye, me turn to pamper ye."

"Want to get two or split it? And uh-huh, can check out the whirlpool then."

"Depends 'ow much ye want an aye would like that."

"Just a little, you'd be eating most of it."
