In time he has to breath and rests his forehead against hers, the anger and fire is still there but banked for a moment,

"Lord, Kate, dinna wish to see ye 'urt."

"I know, I don't want you hurt either."

She then added, "Save that fire for the Sheriff and his men, you'll need it then."

"Aye. Do ye wish to eat yet?"

His hand gets lost in her hair as he kisses the last of her tears on her face.

She shook her head, "Not that hungry." She settled against him again.

"Rest if ye can then. Na one will be comin' this way."

The rain can be heard pattering on the cottage roof above them as he snuggles her into his arms.

She nuzzled him, and burrowed her face into his chest. Her breathing grew slow and even as the sound of the rain outside and the warmth of Will's presence helped lull her to sleep.

He doesn't sleep, not until the rain is only a drizzle on the roof, he has to be sure that she's safe.

When he does sleep, its light so that if she stirs even once he'll know.

The threat had brought up old memories so it was a hard and troubled night for sleeping for Kate unfortunately. She shifted, and curled up more, worried murmurs in her sleep. Her face was damp with more tears.

When she curls against him, he hugs her tighter, stroking her hair and wiping the tears from her eyes.

She reached out for him in her sleep, and her dreams eventually lightened as she fell into a deeper and more restful sleep.

When she finally sleeps, he allows himself to close his eyes though his dreams are restless.

She woke up briefly sometime in the early morning, but stroked Will's hair before settling in to doze more against him.

Once he finally sleeps, he doesn't stir for a long time instead just holding her tightly.

She finally wakes up properly sometime around noon or so, and nuzzled against Will, kissing his cheek.

Blearily he opens his eyes and kisses her,

"Morn, love. 'ow'd ye sleep?"

"Morning. Mixed. Better later on." Her earlier dreams were of her held down, and some of her traumatic memories mixing together. The later ones were calmer, standing on a shoreline ones.

"Aye, good. Think tis some food in the basket an sounds like the rain's lessened."

Her stomach rumbled a little.

"Good." Definitely hungry now for breakfast. She got up, and headed over to the basket to pull out some items. thermos of tea, some biscuits and scones, also sandwiches and fruit, cheese.

He stands up beside her, giving her a hug as he pokes the fire awake,

"I'll 'eat the tea up. Ye look a bit better, love."

"A little bit. Some sleep helped." She hugged him back, and smoothed some hair back from his forehead.

"How are you?"

His answer is take, use his knife to toast a scone over the fire,

"Well 'nough, more worried for ye."

"I'll be all right. Just needed some time away."

"Aye, course, what do ye wish to do?"

"I don't know. Just be here. Offer my help where I can actually do something good for a change."

"Aye, o'course."

It hurts so much to see her like this and he sets to work eating as the tea is finally reheated.
