In the background his mother is laughing and unpacking the basket,

"Oh some broth, thank ye, Will. Gettin' colder."

"Oh aye, tis an this is Kate. Think Tom might like one o'those pastries near the bottom, should still be warm."

He gestures towards one chocolate croissant that got in there somehow.

Never mind the croissants won't exist for a few centuries yet, but probably just think it was something exotic.

"A pleasure to meet you."

Kate is given a smile,

"Come help me unpack all the wonderful things in here, dear an tell me 'ow ye met that foolish boy."

Will and Tom are currently talking and clearly plotting something over by the bed.

"He's only foolish... well ok part of the time?" Kate laughed, and started to unpack.

"I was traveling, and I got lost, unsure of where I was. Will came across me and helped me. We talked at times after that, and then when that flu was passing through... he got sick. I all but sat on him to keep him in bed at times, and looked after him."

"Can see 'im needin' that, 'is 'eart's good an 'e gives so much. Glad 'e's found a lass."

Soon Tom and Will start singing is fairly decent harmony, a serenade to the two women.

"It is, and he really does."

Kate glanced up at the music, and tucked some hair behind her ear.

"Romantic dork," she muttered softly to herself with amusement.

The two boys stop and Tom just beams at Kate as Will comes over to squeeze her hand,

"Think 'e likes ye, love." His mother just smiles at them,

"Now dinna stay too long ye two, na that I dinna wish to 'ave ye 'ere but Sheriff's gotten to sendin' guards round just in case someone's round."

Will nods and ruffles Tom's hair before bowing,

"Ye know 'ow to find if tis aught we can do."

Mother and son smile at them as Will opens the door and it starts raining again.

Kate waved goodbye to them, and put her hood up again as she took Will's hand.

"Good family," she said to Will once out of earshot.

"Aye, they are. Father's a woodcutter, tis why 'e's na 'ere. Guess the rain's na done yet."

As they walk farther from the cottage, his arm moves around he waist.

"Guess not, is this normal for this time of year?" She shifted closer to him.

"Bit more than usual, but sometimes end o'Summer just 'as a lot o'rain."

"Oh I see. It usually doesn't last very long in New York, just a few passing storms here and there."

"Can be good for things. Na too much else goin' on though. Too wet to 'unt. What do ye wish to do, love?"

"I guess we'll have to wait to walk around much, huh? Me and my timing."

He draws her into a hug and kiss,

"Shh, naught wrong with yer timin'."

Her arms came around his neck, and she kissed him back sweetly. Nothing wrong with this either.

The rain keeps drenching them, but Will doesn't really care. He has Kate and she's happier and kissing him.

She pulled closer to him as she kept kissing him back. One of her hands slide around his neck and his head.

That pushes his hood off and soon his hair is plastered to his face as his arms reach around her waist and hold her tightly.

She doesn't notice the rain now, still kissing his lips, cheek, and neck. Her clothes were getting soaked as well, but it didn't matter right this second.

He has to stop and breath and whispers against her neck,

"Shall we go back an be warm, love?"

Kate nodded, "Uh-huh, let's go." But first one more searing kiss on the lips.

That kiss is not fair and he pulls her close to return it.

Nope, not even a little bit. Which was the point.

Though she moaned softly into his mouth when he returned it, and her grip on his back tightened.

"Lord, Kate."

He growls into her mouth and kisses her once more, he'll remember they have to move soon.
