Recovering, part 3

The street lead the pair out onto Park Avenue, around 71st. There were a lot of shops and restaurants along here by the look of the bustling shoppers in the summer heat, many with rain gear. It felt like the sky might open up anytime now. It was a main drag so there were plenty of cabs going along the streets to catch. But Kate was more focused on something other than the upscale boutiques and bistros.

"Oh, good, we're right near it. Come on, it's by the Park." She then tugged him along 71st.

"Which isna a good reason."

He pulls her into another hug,

"Come on, love, find me a speedo an somethin' to swim in an we'll 'ave a lovely lunch. Then after yer meetin', can take me out o'the speedo."

She hugged him back.

"Sorry, I'm really trying. Just keep getting reminders. Let's go grab a cab."

"Shh, na 'pologies, Kate. Some days are 'arder than others, tis the way o''ealin'."

The street is close and his arm goes around her waist as he tries to hail a cab, it doesn't work that well.

"I know, I know."

The thunder was closer now, and there was the drip, drip of rain starting to fall.

So Kate raised her arm to flag down a cab that looked empty of passengers. One finally pulled over, and she tugged Will to climb in with her as she said her destination.

Then the sky opens up with a summer thunderstorm and he wraps her into his arms,

"Shh, we'll find our way through."

She watched the rain for a moment and then curled against him, lightly nuzzling him under his chin.

They reach their stop,

"'ere we are. Race ye in?"

"You're on." She paid the money and tip, and rushed outside to race in.

He's quick and dashes just making it to the door before her and shakes the rain out of his red hair.

"Hey!" she yelped and shielded herself with her hands before darting inside.

He follows her with a laugh before kissing her cheek,

"Love ye, Kate."

"Love you too."

She glanced around the place, "Hmmm... I think I see the swimsuit area, but looks like more stuff for me than you. Have to try somewhere else. There's a new place a few blocks away we could try."

"Oh aye, seems rather plain. Rain 'asna let up just yet."

He squeezes her hand as he peers outside at everyone hiding under umbrellas or dashing inside as the sky just pours.

"Should we try to make a run for it? Or oh, I could get us some rain gear here at least. They got rain jackets."

"Let's run for it, ye look lovely with yer 'air all wet."

"My clothes will get soaked though."

"'ow far is the store?"

"About five blocks."

"Right, then let's get stuff like cloaks."

Kate stared at him, and remarked as they headed to the clothes racks with them, "Didn't I just say that?"

Luckily men's and women's outerwear were near each other so they didn't have to hunt all through the store.

"Aye, ye did, love. I just was thinkin' if wasna too far we could walk but this seems easier. Love ye an glad ye know more than me."

He gives her a hug as they head over to the rain stuff.

"Because we're on my turf. You'd be the same way in Sherwood. That's all." She hugged him back, and then looked through for something promising.

"That's a pretty color, matches yer eyes."

Reaching around her he finds a simple windbreaker in a beautiful deep blue.

"It's nice. Simple. Pretty sure they have similiar ones in men's sizes in green for you."

"Would like that."

He kisses her hair again, because he can and she's there and safe and his.
