Back to New York for another visit

They walked through the door, and it lead out to a street a few blocks from the warehouse where the team now trained.

Kate got out her cellphone, and texted a message, her other hand linked with Will's.

"Just letting Cassie and the others know we're on our way. Another example of modern technology, a lot quicker than trying to call across a town square, and longer distance," She held up the phone to show him the modern device.

Will looks after Kate and Eli, his hand moving for a moment to where his sword would be and it takes him a moment to heard Billy and Teddy,

"Oh aye, fine, things are quiet in Nottingham. Could always spar with 'im if that would 'elp."

Billy shook his head, "Sparring against a super soldier, I wouldn't recommend it."

Teddy added, "Both of them say there's nothing there, but they just always been like this. They do get along in a way."

Cassie then piped in, "Eli's just like that, took him a while to accept her on the team especially. Me, it wasn't until that I found out about my own powers."

Meanwhile Kate and Eli's conversation got louder.

"All right, fine, but you better still be focused on what we're doing here." He loudly said.

She yelled back, "I am focused, hey! I helped keep us together, remember? I should be asking how focused you really are, Patriot!"

He paused at that, and gave one more punch to the bag, "Not in front of the civilian. And I am, we have a job to do, remember? You coming on patrol tonight or you too busy?"

Kate icily stated, "It's because of legends like Will, and others that any of us were inspired to do to this. Costumes just didn't catch on until our century, but there's always been heroes. Cap understands that, why don't you?"

Eli just replied to that, "Just be there."

"I will," Kate said, and walked a short distance away to go kick a larger bag sullenly.

He nods to Cassie and the others but comes to stand beside Kate, the outlaw a bit more clear in him,

"Can always go out 'nother time."

Then moves to face Eli and says quietly, but with a dangerous edge in his voice,

"I fight to protect my 'ome same as ye do an know well the 'igh price for doin' so as does Kate. 'it me if will 'elp ye feel better but dinna take yer anger out on Kate."

"It's fine, we won't be that late," Kate quickly said, taking his hand.

Eli then took a step forward, "Stay out of this. It doesn't concern you."

Kate then stepped between them both, trying to push both men back, "All right, knock it off! Both of you! Will, don't tempt him, and Eli, I already said I'm coming on patrol. Should I bring some tranquilizer arrows to make you behave?"

"It was a fair offer, Kate, canna promise I willna 'it 'im back though. An dinna see 'ow this doesna concern me, ye're 'urtin' Kate an I love 'er, so concerns me."

Will is not moving even as Kate moves between them.

Eli took another step closer, and actually balled up his fists

"I told you to stay out of this. It's Avengers business."

Kate then spun, and then swept her foot to clip Eli's ankle and send him sprawling. He gave a grunt as he fell backward.

She then said to Will, "Just leave it alone, Will. We don't want to spend the night at some hospital because of you two. Let it go."

Will is far too still as he looks at Kate and Eli, not speaking for a long moment as his hand strays once more to where his sword should be and Sherwood is clear in his eyes,

"Aye, will speak na more o'this, but if 'appens 'gain, I will wait an face the consequences."

Kate tried to tug him away, but then Eli got up again, and went to send a punch right at Will.

"ELI NO!"

Will was already turning slightly so the punch took him on the side of his face, he tasted blood in his mouth before hitting the floor and losing consciousness.

Kate went to help him, and the others rushed over. She fixed a dark look at Eli.

"Don't you EVER do that again! What kind of hero are you? He doesn't even have powers!"

Eli frowned, and weakly said, "Kate, I... dammit, never mind." He then left to go suit up for patrol later.

Cassie knelt down by Kate, "Is he ok?"

"Just need the first aid kit," she quietly said, and stroked Will's hair back. Teddy hurried over with it, and Kate checked him over for injuries.

Billy asked, "Want me to wake him?"

Kate nodded, since she didn't want to risk a concussion for him. Billy extended his hand out toward Will, and his eyes started to glow as he repeated a mantra to do a waking spell.

He can taste the blood in his mouth when he wakes and for a moment, Will's thoughts are not in New York but in Sherwood when his eyes open and he says harshly,

"Na bloody dead yet. I'm fine just let me up."

Will is from an older and harsher time and at the moment, his temper is teetering on the edge and though Kate's hand is comforting, its not quite enough.

"Will! Lie still for a moment, and let us help. Or do I have to drag your butt back into Milliways, and drop you off in the infirmary for Guppy or someone else to deal with?" Kate sharply said, placing a firm hand on his chest. Damn hotheads.

Cassie eyed him, and quietly whispered to Kate, "Wow, they really are a lot alike."

"Annoyingly so sometimes, yes," she muttered back.

"Kate, I've been punched 'fore, tisna need to worry so."

Though he does stop moving for the moment though he searches for Eli,

"Oh aye an 'e's left, well, least I ne'er 'it 'im, guess ye should be glad."

"Yes he left, only because I was about ready to hit you both with tranquilizers. And if you hadn't turned like that, he could have done serious damage. He's a supersoldier now, I meant it when I said I'm the only one on our team without powers."

Billy started to say, "Well...actually Eli..." But Kate gave a warning glance.

"Let's not bring that up now."

Cassie added, "She's got a point, Will. Regular punches wouldn't faze him much. He's bulletproof."

He takes a long deep breath that doesn't help as much as it should and puts his head in his hands,

"Fine, tis aught else ye wish to yell at me 'bout?"

"He wasn't hurting me, it was just an argument. It happens a lot."

Kate sighed as the others backed away from them again.

"This was a mistake. I figured it would be hard with you two meeting. I suppose I should just be glad Tommy wasn't here to try to blow you up."

"'e was makin' ye un'appy, Kate, 'ate seein' ye lookin' like that."

He's still speaking to his hands since it seems easier then looking at Kate and seeing how disappointed she is.

"We get along other times. Just tend to clash a lot. Enough to make some of the others think that means we were attracted to each other or something. We're going to argue, you can't expect me to be happy all the time. Don't put me on a pedestal, Will."

Kate added, "If you just want to call this a bust, and head back to the bar now, I'll understand."

Now he looks up at her and takes one of her hands,

"I know that, Kate, I do. Just sounded to me as if 'e was doubtin' ye was all, forgive me. An be worried if ye didna yell at me an dinna wish to give up on today. Just a bruise after all an least I've met 'im."

"He was, but he doesn't have room to talk really. And it's nothing I want to go into now."

She gripped his hand back, and tightened it almost painfully so for a moment before relaxing.

"You sure you're ok? If you're dizzy or feel like you're going to pass out at any time, I'm taking you straight back to the bar."

He squeezes her hand back and gently kisses it,

"Truly, I'm fine, love."

Then he slowly stands up, not letting go of her hand and bows to the others,

"Forgive me for bringin' ye such trouble an thank ye for yer 'elp."

Billy commented, "Actually? You really weren't. This is quiet for us."

Teddy nodded, "He means it, should see how it is when we're all here."

Kate waved to them, "I'll see you guys later."

Cassie waved, and commented, "Bye Will! It was nice meeting you! Hey, Kate, any chance he's got some cute friends back in the bar?"

Kate gave a small laugh, "Probably, but save it for another time." She then walked back outside with him.

"Well, hard to top that excitement now I guess," she bitterly replied when they were back outside.

When they're outside and away from the others, Will stops and gently takes Kate's face in his hands and kisses her.

The bruise is already forming on the side of his face and will be many interesting colors throughout the day,

"I love ye, Kate, an ye're worth it. Tis much o'the day left an we'll fill it with good things."

She was tense still, and there was barely a gesture of kissing back.

"I love you too, but you really infuriate me sometimes. Not sure if visiting a coffee shop would help. You shouldn't be more wired than you already are."

Will's not sure the best thing to do so puts his hands into his pockets while he looks at her,

"Could just walk for a time, see if that 'elps."
